Tennessee rising senior Amanda Curran is ending her softball-playing career early.

Curran, a role-player and would-be rising senior, made the announcement on social media on Tuesday.

“I have officially decided to hang up my cleats,” Curran said. “Being able to play for Tennessee has been the greatest privilege and I will cherish the memories and friendships made along the way. Thank you, Lady Vol nation, for all the love and support. Excited for the next chapter.”

A native of The Woodlands, Texas, Curran spent three years in a Lady Vols uniform. She made eight appearances during the 2020 season prior to that campaign’s abrupt end. In 2021, she made ten appearances with three starts before suffering a season-ending ACL injury.

During the 2022 campaign, Curran made a career-high 19 appearances, primarily as a pinch hitter. In a game against Tennessee Tech on March 2nd, she hit a walk-off, pinch-hit home run that clinched a run-rule victory.

In addition to her on-field endeavors, Curran was twice named an NFCA Scholar-Athlete, in 2021 and 2022. She was named to the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll in the same years.
