When Kellar LamBeau, a 2023 P/3B/1B for Rhino Softball 18U-Ibarra, isn’t playing softball, the talented musician/artist is busy with her arts and crafts projects.

Played in Let’s Play For You Non D1 College Showcase and Camp in Peoria, IL, Let’s Play For You Strike Out Cancer Showcase in Orland Park, IL, St. Louis Showcase 1 in St. Louis, MO, and St. Louis Showcase 2 in St. Louis, MO, in the fall; played in Stone City Summer Showcase in Minooka, IL, DeMarini Summer Showcase in Portage, IN, Northern Illinois Lightning Summer Classic in Elgin, IL, Colorado Firecracker in Denver, CO, Betcher Stars and Stripes in Orland Park/St. Charles, IL, Sparks 29th annual Invitational Showcase in Elgin, IL, Stone City Showcase in Minooka, IL, and Invitation-only selection for Showtime Sports’ Midwest Fastpitch Showcase in Waukesha, WI, last summer.
High School Highlights:
Batting — 31 PA, 28 AB, .444 AVG, .500 OBP, .893 SLG, three HRs and 17 RBIs; Pitching — 29.2 IP, four GS, 122 BF, 3 BBs, 45 Ks, 2.596 ERA, .910 WHIP and one perfect game.
Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them?
I joined Rhino Softball when my previous organization, Lockport Pride Softball, merged with Rhino Baseball. Though the name has changed, this is my third season with the organization. I originally joined Lockport Pride following a favorite coach, Kristina Shahan, from a previous team, the Nationals.
What were some of the highlights for your club team this fall?
We struggled with wins in the fall, but we enjoyed working together as a new team of 10. We are a mix of 2022s and 2023s, many of us new to each other. It has been great getting to know the new squad!
What should we expect from your club team this summer?
We will be playing many college exposure tournaments, looking to get the girls on our team recruited. Three of our 10 are already committed to play in college in the fall 2022. We hope that COVID will allow us to play complete tournaments this year!
What should we expect from your high school team this spring?
Downers Grove South is known for being a good softball school, so I hope to help the team to state this year! Last year, the team lost in sectional semifinals.
Do you have a secret talent/skill?
I am good at drawing, painting, and all kinds of arts and crafts. When I’m not playing softball, I’m doing some kind of art project!
What’s your most memorable softball story?
When we were in Colorado last summer, we had so many rain outs … but we had the best time playing kickball in the mud, having dance-offs with the other teams and really enjoying the experience even if we couldn’t play our games.
