Some of the suspense was taken away, but the final score never was at the Triple Crown PCFL 18U Winter Qualifier on Sunday at Lake Elsinore, CA.
Marty Tyson‘s Corona Angels took on his daughter Dena Slye‘s Corona Angels in one of the bracket finals and Tyson’s team won, 10-1.
Oklahoma State-bound IF Claire Timm had a two-run double; Cal-bound IF Elon Butler had a three-run home run; Nebraska-bound IF Katelyn Caneda went 2 for 2 with two runs; New Mexico State-bound C Devin Elam and 2023 OF Taralyn Ollison both went 2-for-2 with RBI singles; and Biola-bound P Kayla Bousquette got the win in the finals for Angels-Tyson.
“I train both teams, so it was a win-win today,” Tyson said. “Yesterday, 18 Slye got it done going undefeated.”
Firecrackers Brashear received a forfeit win over Athletics Mercado-Smith, the defending Alliance 18U national champion, after a dispute with the umpires in the other bracket final.
Firecrackers Brashear and Corona Angels-Tyson earned spots in Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series 2, which will be held July 25-31 in Kokomo, IN.
Columbia-bound OF/1B/LHP Eleni Katsivalis was happy to get Firecrackers Brashear back to AFCS 2.
“We are excited to qualify again this year for the AFCS representing Firecrackers Brashear and compete with the best of the best in Indiana in July,” Katsilvalis said.
