Video: Amanda Freed Katchka on “How It Got Harder After Winning a National Title at UCLA”

Amanda Freed Katchka in Part II of her interview with Extra Inning Softball on her memories of her high school, UCLA and USA Softball championship experiences.

Two weeks ago, we published Part 1 of our interview with softball legend Amanda Freed Katchka, who has won championships at every possible softball level:

  • high school (Pacifica High in Garden Grove, California)
  • travel ball (Gordon’s Panthers)
  • college (UCLA)
  • Olympics (Gold Medal in Athens 2004 Games)
  • pro (Chicago Bandits in NPF)

In that earlier clip, Amanda talked about topics such what she sees as the biggest mistake young pitchers make and the major mental differences between the youth and college levels.

In Part II of our sit-down interview with the current broadcaster, softball instructor and mother of two, Amanda provides her perspective on:

  • making the transition from club ball to playing for the UCLA Bruins
  • how it actually got harder for her after winning a National Championship as a freshman
  • the major difference between the USA style of play and other countries in international competition
  • her memories of playing in the Athens Olympics where Team USA won the Gold Medal
  • what stands out about her high school championship days and how that “was the beginning of it all”
