Video Spotlight: 2020 Infielder Teammates Carson Armijo (UCLA) & Alyssa Washington (Texas) of Impact Gold – Middlebrook

Carson Armijo (left) and Alyssa Washington of Impact Gold – Middlebrook were both in the 2020 Extra Elite 100. The standout infielders are going to UCLA and Texas, respectively.

Last week, I had a chance to watch the Impact Gold – Middlebrook 18U team warm up and practice prior to playing in the Top Club National tournament in Oklahoma City.

The team is loaded with talent and ended up tying for 5th place in the stacked event thanks in large part to a pair of 2020 infielders—shortstop Alyssa Washington, who has signed with Texas, and first baseman/outfielder Carson Armijo, who is UCLA-bound.

The two were very impressive in the games I saw them play, notably, Alyssa with her strong arm and quick glove-to-hand transition and Carson with her big bat and athletic abilities, especially at her size (prototype 1B frame, but the fluidity to play the outfield).

Here’s my interview with the pair of Texans who are both in the 2020 Extra Elite 100 and share their thoughts on their COVID-19 impacted senior seasons, why they chose UCLA and Texas, respectively, and what lies ahead for graduation and college!
