Video: The Impressive Story Behind One of Club’s Most Successful Programs… “The History of Firecracker Softball: Part One”
Originally published March 21, 2020 on Extra Inning Softball
The Firecrackers club softball program has become the largest in the sport with teams of all ages competing from coast-to-coast in states such as Arizona, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and, of course, California where it all started three decades ago.
The Firecrackers’ organization has won national championships at every level, including the 2018 PGF 18U Premier Nationals, and produced noteworthy players including All-Americans such as Lauren Chamberlain (Oklahoma), Megan Langenfield (UCLA), Sis Bates (Washington) and Taylor Van Zee (Washington).
Driving the Firecrackers’ success since 2003 (and previously serving as a title-winning coach in the program since 1996) has been Tony Rico, who invited Extra Inning Softball’s Brentt Eads to discuss the history, culture, philosophies and, most importantly, the people behind the Firecrackers’ amazing story in this video tour of the organization’s headquarters in Huntington Beach, California.
