Wichita State and head coach Kristi Bredbenner have agreed to a contract extension.
The new deal will carry Bredbenner’s deal through the 2028 season; it’s the second consecutive summer that the Shockers added to the length of Bredbenner’s existing deal.
“Coach Bredbenner, her staff and our student-athletes are tremendous representatives of Wichita State University and Shocker Athletics,” Wichita State athletic director Kevin Saal said in a statement. “Shocker softball is committed to developing young people as students, persons, players and professionals. We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Coach Bredbenner and her staff, as we continue our plan to invest in and build Shocker softball.”
The Shockers’ leader for the past twelve seasons, Bredbenner led the program to their third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance in 2023. It was also the fifth postseason appearance of her tenure, while the season’s 44 wins was the second-highest total in program history.
Bredbenner is the program’s winningest coach, boasting an overall record of 364-264-1.
