Josh Bloomer will join the Arizona coaching staff, sources confirmed to Extra Inning Softball.
Bloomer is expected to work with the UA offense.
With the addition of Bloomer, the Wildcats’ coaching staff will be at four full-time members following the July 1st implementation of the rule change allowing full-time staff expansions.
Bloomer spent the 2022 season as hitting coach at South Carolina and was part of the staff that led the Gamecocks to the SEC tournament championship game, a spot in the Tallahassee Regional, and a berth in the Regional final that included an upset win over host Florida State.
Prior to his tenure at South Carolina, Bloomer spent three years guiding the offense at Duke. While at Duke, Bloomer was part of the Blue Devils coaching staff that was named Regional Coaching Staff of the Year in both 2021 and ’22 and reached the Super Regional round in 2022.
In addition to his collegiate experience, Bloomer previously spent seven years as the head coach at Louisville Male High Schoo, including winning a state title in 2019. He also served as head coach at Mercy Academy from 2005-12 and also led that high school program to a state title in 2012.
