Akins: Diamond Elite Player
In a week defined by clutch performances and high-stakes pressure, Hyde Park freshman Alexandra Akins rose to the occasion—and the fans took notice. Following a dominant showing at the TAPPS Division II State Championship, Akins was voted the Diamond Elite National High School Player of the Week by the Extra Inning Softball community.
The Class of 2028 pitcher and shortstop didn’t just show up—she took over. In back-to-back games on May 12 and 13, Akins delivered game-altering contributions on both sides of the ball, helping secure Hyde Park’s first state championship title in over 20 years.
