Realigned Regions, More Accurate Results
We’ve spent the past year listening to coaches, families, and athletes—and using that feedback to evolve. As part of that commitment, Extra Inning Softball has revamped our regional structure to deliver a fairer, more accurate evaluation system for every player in the Class of 2029 and beyond. Each region now offers:

Cleaner, more consistent comparisons for national rankings and specialty lists
This realignment helps us showcase what makes athletes exceptional within their own part of the country, while also giving every player a clearer path to national recognition. It’s a system built for fairness, clarity, and opportunity.
National Honor Roll
Extra Inning Softball’s Honor Roll will showcase the nation’s top academic athletes, highlighting players with GPAs from 3.5 to 4.0+, on the following dates

Feb 6 – Distinguished Prospects for 3.5-3.75 GPA Athletes

Feb 7 – Extra Selects for 3.75-3.99 GPA Athletes

Feb 8 – Extra Elite Scholars for 4.0+ GPA

National Rankings: Top 100 by Position
The Class of 2029 Extra Elite 100 will be evaluated across four primary position groups: Pitchers, Catchers, Infielders, and Outfielders. Once the Extra Elite 100 lists are released, we’ll roll into the Top 100 Regional Hitters Hotlist in every region, followed by the National Hitters Hotlist featuring standout sluggers, pure hitters, slappers, and pitcher/hitter dual threats.

- Feb 18–20 – People’s Choice Vote: Top 5 Fan Picks (Your vote counts!) Voting will take place on our Dugout Discussions Polls Page.

National Rankings: Extra Select & Prospect
The Class of 2029 rankings expand with two national tiers: the Extra Select Athletes (Nos. 101–200) and the Extra Prospect Athletes (Nos. 201–300). Both lists will be released by position, showcasing the depth and balance of talent across pitchers, catchers, infielders, and outfielders.

How We Rank — and Why It Matters
At Extra Inning Softball, nominating a player is completely free. Our rankings process is powered by proprietary software that helps us organize nominations, break down data, and spotlight standout performers across every position and region. But the work goes far beyond numbers. We’ve built a Regional Rankings Advisory Board made up of respected head coaches, recruiting coordinators, and organizational leaders nationwide who volunteer their insight to ensure our lists reflect what’s truly happening on the field.
Our staff commits hundreds of hours each cycle researching stats, verifying film, evaluating nominations, and reviewing athlete résumés. This isn’t a plug-and-play system—it’s an intensive process grounded in accuracy, fairness, and national reach.
