Here’s our TLI for Tuesday, Mar. 10, 2020…

*****

TLI usually likes to take a light-hearted approach to our coverage, but obviously we are in extreme times with this coronavirus (COVID-19) and especially with our elderly fans.

As the FDA is reporting: “The novel (new) coronavirus first identified in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China been named “SARS-CoV-2 and the disease it causes has been named “coronavirus disease 2019” (abbreviated “COVID-19”).

Shockingly, this has become a global pandemic and continues to impact on macro and micro levels. For instance, all of Italy is pretty much on lockdown and the country has had over 10,000 people catch COVID-19 with the death toll there at 630 and climbing.

At the “micro level,” we all love our family, hopefully, including our parents, siblings and grandmas and grandpas. TLI believes we need to especially take a serious look at our elderly fans, who appear to be the most likely targets of this disease.

Here’s what the CDC is saying to help prevent the spread of the virus:

Practice good hygiene:
  • Stop handshaking – use other non-contact methods of greeting
  • Clean hands at the door and schedule regular hand washing reminders by email
  • Create habits and reminders to avoid touching their faces and cover coughs and sneezes
  • Disinfect surfaces like doorknobs, tables, desks, and handrails regularly
  • Increase ventilation by opening windows or adjusting air conditioning
Be careful with meetings and travel:
  • Use videoconferencing for meetings when possible
  • When not possible, hold meetings in open, well-ventilated spaces
  • Consider adjusting or postponing large meetings or gatherings
  • Assess the risks of business travel
Handle food carefully:
  • Limit food sharing
  • Strengthen health screening for cafeteria staff and their close contacts
  • Ensure cafeteria staff and their close contacts practice strict hygiene
Stay home if …:
  • They are feeling sick
  • They have a sick family member in their home

The point is we don’t have all the answers. We have to play things smart. We believe that from all available data we have on coronavirus (COVID-19) is saying that it doesn’t affect young people like it does the elderly, but still, let’s protect our grandmas and grandpas and/or those with chronic conditions!

Keep them home and safe until we get more data or a vaccine.

TLI loves softball nation.

Be safe.
