Today, October 2, is National Name Your Car Day and, as we have witnessed many times before, softball players are not only talented on the field, but also have shown to be very creative off it.
Earlier this week, we asked players in the softball community to share some fun facts with us, whether their modes of transportation have been nicknamed, and if so, how it came to be.
Here are three of our favorites…

MARQUITA
“I named my car ‘Marquita!’” says Abby Hammett, a member of the Athletics Mercado NTX 18U – Baez team.
“It’s a 2020 Jeep Compass. I’m not sure why I came up with that name, but it seems to fit because she is a little spunky!”

VERTI SWIFT
Macie Harter, who plays for Fury 2024 Premier – Lyons, told us:
“I named my car ‘Verti Swift’ because she’s obviously a convertible. Also, my favorite artist is Taylor Swift. This car is a pretty swift and powerful sports car. I love her so much!”

BLACK BEAUTY
“I have always loved Mustangs and when I got it for my 16th birthday, I said, ‘She’s a beauty!’” Jaysoni Beachum, who is with Tennessee Mojo – Danley, wrote. “So, I named her “Black Beauty” since the color of the car is black and beautiful to me.”
