Lyla Morici, a right-handed pitcher, first-baseman, and 0utfielder ranked #9 Overall for the Class of 2027 Extra Elite 100, is quickly establishing herself as an athlete to watch in the class of 2027.
A top performer for the Nationals 16U Sars, led by Coach John Sars, an elite squad that Extra Inning Softball profiled last month, Lyla plays alongside her elder sister, Julia Morici, a 2025 Auburn commit, at both the club and high school level.
Consistently clocking in the upper-sixties during competition, Lyla has helped her club team to a Top 8 finish at PGF’s “Show Me the Money,” clocking in at 66 mph with her fastball. The 2027 specializes with her drop and curveball, and has spent recent seasons developing her off-speed. Additionally, Lyla represented Team Italy at the Triple Crown International Challenge (“TCIC”) in Colorado.
At the plate, Lyla’s exit velocity is 72 mph and she is able to drive the ball to all parts of the field, helping her to the honors of Cobb County Player of the Year, Region Player of the Year, 1st Team All-Region, and 5A 1st Team All-State, as well as the Region Pitcher of the Year for her excellence on the mound for Kell High School, located in Marietta, Georgia.
As the athlete’s recruitment process begins, she is very proactive, and has taken the initiative to connect with programs she’s interested in and show out at top camps and events.
Follow along for an inside look at rising star Lyla Morici’s approach to softball, favorite memories in the game, favorite athletes, and so much more!
