Brie Galicinao is out as the head coach at UC Santa Barbara, sources confirmed to Extra Inning Softball on Monday.
Galicinao spent fifteen years as the Gauchos’ head coach, collecting a 343-437 overall record during her tenure. In 2014, the club tied the program’s single-season wins record, reaching the 35-victories plateau.
A two-time Big West Coach of the Year, Galicinao shared the conference award in 2008 and won the title outright in 2012. The Gauchos played in the NCAA tournament in 2007 and participated in the National Invitational Softball Championship postseason tournament in 2017.
During the 2022 season, the Gauchos posted a 15-39 overall record with a 6-21 showing in Big West play.
Prior to taking the reins at UCSB, Galicinao was an assistant coach with the program and previously held multiple roles within the athletic department at Princeton, her alma mater. As a player, Galicinao was the first-ever player to win both the Ivy League’s Player and Pitcher of the Year awards in the same season.
