This is our first edition of the National Club Player & Club Team of the Week series for the 2022 summer travel ball season which honors great individual and team accomplishments.
Today we honor those from events across the country from Monday, June 20 through Sunday, June 26, 2022.

National Club Team of the Week:
Hotshots National 16U – Jones
* It’s hard not to honor a team that went undefeated a major tourney last week, especially when the pool and championship bracket wins brings your record to 10-0.
That’s what Steve Jones Hotshots National 16U squad did at the prestigious Top Club Nationals in the Oklahoma City-based tournament that saw the Texas-based team top #26 Iowa Premier National-Lacina, 4-1, in the semifinals and Texas Glory Naudin, 5-1, in the championship game.
In other notable wins, the Hotshots also defeated Oklahoma Athletics Platinum 06-McFadden, 10-0; Vision NTX, 6-2; #31 Hotshots Premier-Esparza, 4-0; #46 Iowa Premier National-Dickel, 5-3 and Texas Glory Naudin 2024, 4-0.
“Honestly, this team is more of a team with respect to contributions to success than any I think I’ve coached in my 21 years of softball coaching,” Coach Jones told Extra Inning Softball.
“Other than my pitching staff — which all three were just downright wonderful all week defensively and offensively, contributions came from everyone. Obviously, I have a few players may produce more consistently but this National title was truly earned (by) the entire squad.”
It starts in the circle and Sam Houston State-committed 2023 P/1B Amy Abke was stellar while the offense was led by several well-known names including 2024 UT/SS/2B Sa’Mya Jones, Purdue-committed 2023 OF Moriah Polar and Texas A&M-committed 2023 OF Hailey Golden.

How to Submit Information:
Each week during the summer, Extra Inning Softball will recognize a National Club Player & Team of the Week.
Those honored will typically be announced usually on Wednesdays. The cutoff for submitting the nominations for Player & Team of the Week will be Mondays at 9 pm EST/6 pm PST.
* Individually, we’re looking for standouts who excelled in the circle, at the plate or in the field so be sure to nominate your favorite performance(s) by submitting the following:
- Player Name
- Grad Year (example: Class of 2024 or Incoming Junior
- Position(s)
- Club team name with city/state
- Stats for the week (be as detailed as possible!)
- Up-to-date season stats if possible
- Recruiting information if applicable
- Any interesting background on the player
- Action and/or head shots
- If possible, contact info if we’d like more info or quotes
* Teams to be considered should include info such as record, key wins, standout performances and more for the week.
