Former Oregon pitcher Brooke Yanez intends to transfer to UCLA, sources confirmed to Extra Inning Softball late Monday.
An in-conference transfer, Yanez committed to the Bruins on Monday evening, sources said.
Yanez was injured during the 2022 season and did not appear in any games for the Ducks; she announced in mid-March that her injury was season-ending and that she would return for the 2023 campaign.
Bruin blue will be the third school color that Yanez dons during her career; she began her career at UC Davis before transferring to Oregon as a junior. She has one year of eligibility remaining.
A third-team All-American in 2021, Yanez also earned all-Pac 12 first-team honors that same year. She posted a 22-6 record with a 2.11 ERA and 268 strikeouts to her credit in more than 182 innings of work.
In Los Angeles, Yanez will combine with returning ace Megan Faraimo to form a 1-2 punch in the circle for the Bruins. Pitcher Lauren Shaw also returns. UCLA graduated pitcher Holly Azevedo with the 2022 season.
Editor’s note: A previous version of this article misstated Lauren Shaw’s remaining eligibility.
