As we wrap up our look at the Elite 100 recruits and those ranked #’s 101-plus, it’s time to announce our next big project here at Extra Inning Softball: club team rankings for the 14U age division!
It only makes sense as—in our research to find the top players at that level—we gathered info at the same time on their teams that look the most promising for this summer to make legit runs at National Championships.
So… starting in a few weeks we’ll unveil our projected Elite 50 club teams at the 14U age division and this year looks loaded at that level!
Will it be one of the usual powerhouses from So Cal, like the OC Batbusters, Corona Angels, Firecrackers, So Cal Choppers, Explosion, So Cal A’s or A’s Mercado teams? Or a Norcal Team like California Breeze or Sorcerer?
Or will it be one of two teams from deep organizations like the Diamond Hotshots (Nelson or Falterman)? Beverly Bandits (Helbling or Harkness)? or Georgia Impact (Fisher or Guseaff)?
Then there are the typically strong-looking candidates like the Birmingham Thunderbolts, Mizuno Storm, East Cobb Bullets, Lady Lightning, Texas Glory, Texas Blaze, DeMarini Aces, TN Fury or Tennessee Mojo… will one of these break through and win it all?
And, of course, we’ve left some strong teams out and this is where we need your help: to make sure your favorite 14U team is considered, forward to us the following:
- team name, head coach and location (city/state)
- 2017 record (summer primarily, also fall if available)
- top accomplishments (finishes at key nationals, showcases and other events)
- key returning players, their strengths & standout performances of note
- new players to watch & why they’re impactful
- recruiting info as relevant (ex: “8 players committed to ACC, SEC schools… and detail!)
- 2018 events where the team can be seen (ex: qualified for PGF Nationals or playing at Scenic City)
- any other relevant info to support your team’s ranking!
- don’t forget a team photo, too
The deciding factors in the ratings will include team performances and results from the summer and fall along with the return of key players and the addition of talented new ones.
