It’s never too early to plan ahead and one event club coaches, players and their families will want to consider heading to Tennessee this Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 2-4, 2023) for the 1st Annual Mid-Tennessee Mainstreet Classic Invitational.
Teams will compete from 10U up through 18U and the cost is a very manageable $650.
Cowart Sports Events (“CSE”) has been hosting youth fastpitch softball tournaments for the past 13 years and will be going to Murfreesboro, Tenn. for the first time to host the Mainstreet Classic Invitation.
Event Director Cindy Cowart of CSE says she can’t wait for teams to see all the amenities the first-time event will bring to Murfreesboro—which is about a half hour away from Nashville and is known, among many things, for its significance in American Civil War history.
Tournament Format
“We believe we offer the only truly competitive format as all our games require a winner,” she explains of the Mainstreet Classic’s structure.
“The tournament itself is an all competitive 5-game guarantee played in our signature CSE Power Bracket format that contains no pool games. It keeps equal competition together through power-based matchups and future matchups. This gives all teams the ability to come and compete at whatever experience level they play. Our one-of-a-kind format offers teams great value for their money and most games average over five innings each.”
“All games are played for a longer time and require a winner,” Cindy continues. “Age groups 8U-18U are welcome to register, the cost per team includes all umpire fees and Rutherford County in Middle Tennessee has been named one of the Best Sports Cities in the U.S. and we are looking forward to hosting teams at these wonderful facilities!”

The CSE “Fastpitch Forever” College Scholarships
Another significant aspect of the event—actually, for all Cowart Sports Events like this one—is the awarding of the CSE “Fastpitch Forever” College Scholarships of which four for $2,000 each were given last year.
“We are choosing to earmark a portion of each and every entry fee to fund our scholarship program,” Cindy, the Event Director, continues. “All current or incoming high school seniors are encouraged to apply.”
“At Cowart Sports Events, we believe very strongly in not only in the production of high-quality events serving all types of athletes but the obligation to support the sport and the athletes who play which has given all of us so much and infinitely impacted our lives.”
“The beauty of this is the more teams that play with us each year – the more scholarships we can fund! We will award this year’s recipients at our 12th Annual Texas State Championship Event in College Station, Texas in June of 2024.”
