Brie Galicinao has joined the Cal Poly coaching staff, the school announced on Friday. She will serve as the Mustangs’ pitching coach.
Galicinao, who spent the last fifteen seasons as head coach at UC Santa Barbara, departed the Gauchos’ program earlier this summer. She led the program to 343 victories during her tenure; she guided the Gauchos to a berth in the 2017 National Invitational Softball Championship postseason tournament.
A two-time Big West Coach of the Year, Galicinao earned the award most recently following the 2012 season. While on staff as an assistant coach in 2007, she was part of the staff that guided the program to their most recent NCAA tournament appearance.
In a school statement, Cal Poly head coach Jenny Condon said, “”We’re excited to welcome Brie to the Mustang softball family. She knows the Big West Conference extremely well and knows how to win. Her knowledge and experience working with pitchers and calling games will help our pitching staff from the start. She’ll be a great complement to our staff and I can’t wait to get her on campus working with our team.”
