Cal Poly head coach Jenny Condon set the program’s all-time coaching wins record on Sunday.
A 7-0 win over Cal State Bakersfield marked the 444th win of Condon’s career at Cal Poly, officially giving her sole possession of first place on the program’s career wins list. She had tied the all-time mark a day earlier.
Condon passed former Mustangs head coach Lisa Boyer with the milestone win; Boyer was Condon’s predecessor at the helm of the Cal Poly program. Condon’s victory on Sunday also made her the winningest female head coach in Cal Poly athletics history, in any sport.
Nearing the two-decade mark in her tenure as Mustangs head coach, Condon is the 7th-winningest coach in Big West softball history. She has earned a trio of Big West Coach of the Year honors during her tenure and led the program to the NCAA tournament twice, as well as a berth in the 2017 National Invitational Softball Championship.
A 1990 Iowa State graduate, Condon earned All-American honors in 1989 with the Cyclones and was a four-time all-conference honoree. When her playing career ended, Condon held the program’s career records for hits, runs scored, batting average, and triples. She was elected to the Iowa State Hall of Fame in 2003.
