Oregon Adds Transfer Pitcher Elise Sokolsky

Former UConn pitcher Elise Sokolsky is transferring to Oregon.

“I’m beyond excited to start the next chapter of my athletic and academic journey at the University of Oregon,” Sokolsky wrote on social media on Monday afternoon. “Thank you to everyone who has gotten me to this point, and Husky Nation for all the support the past year!!”

“[E]xtremely blessed for this opportunity,” she added in a second tweet.

Sokolsky enjoyed an impressive freshman season at UConn in 2022, leading the program with 39 appearances in the circle. She posted a conference-leading 20 wins during her rookie year and also led the conference with 180 strikeouts. She added a 2.55 ERA and five complete games to her stat sheet. Sokolsky’s 159 innings of work accounted for just over 43% of UConn’s work in the circle last season.

After the regular season, Sokolsky was an unanimous all-conference first-team selection and earned a pair of Big East Freshman of the Week honors during the year.

Oregon finished the 2022 season with a 33-19 overall record and a 10-14 mark in PAC-12 play. The Ducks’ pitching staff ended the year with a 3.82 ERA and 326 strikeouts in 335 innings of work. Sokolsky is the second transfer pitcher that the Ducks have added this offseason, joining former UNC Greensboro hurler Morgan Scott.
