Richie Bruister is the new head coach at Stephen F. Austin, the school announced on Tuesday.
Bruister most recently spent seven seasons as the head coach at Texas A&M-Commerce, a tenure that ended following the 2021 season. During his time as the Lions’ head coach, Bruister collected a 231-116 overall record.
In addition to coaching on the field, Bruister was the original head coach of the Commerce program. In 2015, the program’s first year of existence, the Lions’ 29-24 overall record was the best first-year start for a program in modern D2 history.
Prior to his tenure leading Texas A&M-Commerce, Bruister was the head coach at Texas Woman’s and Henderson State.
