SANDERS HAS LOUISVILLE MALE IN POSITION FOR MORE KENTUCKY DOMINANCE

Eastern Kentucky-bound 2020 OF/P Jaelyn Sanders helped Male High of Louisville, KY, win its second KHSAA state championship in the past three years last season and Sanders has the Bulldogs, #9 in the nation in the most recent Extra Elite Eighty High School Rankings, poised to make a run at a third state title in four years this season.

Sanders went 12-0 with a 1.03 ERA and 94 strikeouts in 61.1 innings and she batted .388 with 11 homers, 44 runs scored, 20 stolen bases and 28 RBIs to pick up her second Region 7 Player of the Year award last season.

Tell us about your high school team and what we should expect from your team this season?
We are all very competitive and people should expect us to come out strong again.

What have you learned about yourself in the past year?
When I overthink while playing, it causes me to make errors.

What is something you have faced in your life that has helped you become the person that you are today?
Facing challenges in life has made me become stronger as a young woman.

What’s something that people would be surprised to learn about you?
I am a very shy person.

Do you have a secret talent/skill?
I’m ambitious.

Tell us about the reason you chose Eastern Kentucky University?
I loved the campus and I knew I wouldn’t get lost. It made me feel like I belonged there.
