USA Softball News: Sites Announced for 2022 18U and 16U GOLD National Championships

USA Softball announced today that the 2022 16U and 18U USA Softball GOLD National Championships will be held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the USA Softball Hall of Fame and Wild Horse Park in Mustang, Oklahoma.

Taking place July 17-23, the two age divisions will kick off the tournament at both complexes before competing for the coveted GOLD National Championship title at the Softball Capital of the World®.

The USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex has played host to the best softball competitions in the world such as the NCAA Women’s College World Series (WCWS) and the USA Softball International Cup, in addition to hosting the 2020 U.S. Olympic Softball Team for an exhibition contest prior to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The 2022 USA Softball GOLD National Championship marks the 11th time the tournament has been played in Oklahoma City and second time since the recent stadium renovations in 2019.

Bringing an additional 4,000 seats to the USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium – OGE Energy Field, the renovations also added new restrooms, suites, and concessions stands to enhance the fan experience. The four-field complex is located in the heart of the OKC Adventure District, offering many nearby activities for all visitors.

Wild Horse Park has been home to various fast pitch and slow pitch events over the years including multiple USA Softball GOLD National Championships. The 158-acre park features walking and biking trails, two playgrounds, a pond, a dog park, three small pavilions, one large pavilion, six baseball fields, five softball fields, a soccer complex, and an aquatic facility.

Also located in Wild Horse Park is the Mustang Town Center which houses the library, recreation center, senior center, and banquet facilities.

The 2022 GOLD National Championships include 48 berths for each competing division with each team earning a berth through a network of Regional qualifying tournaments and allocated berths.

At the 2021 GOLD Nationals in Salem, Va., Finesse 16U Dreher/ Lesko dominated the 16-Under division with an undefeated 8-0 record to claim the Championship title after defeating Florida Gold John 10-2 in their final contest.

The 18-Under division saw Windermere Wildfire 18U – Paulson edge out Florida Storm-National Shepherd 12-11 and lift the trophy high after battling through the loser’s bracket, winning seven straight games to finish the week with a 12-1 record.

Finesse – Dreher/Lesko won the USA Softball 16U GOLD National Championships in 2021.
