Winthrop announced on Tuesday that the contract of head coach Windy Thees will not be renewed.
Thees spent five seasons as the Eagles’ head coach, collecting 112 wins and an overall record of 112-121 during her tenure. She led the program to a 43-50 showing against Big South opponents.
Under Thees’ guidance, the Eagles finished above .500 in four of her five seasons at the helm, including a 26-24 showing during the 2023 season. The program finished above .500 in conference play once, in 2019.
Prior to taking the helm at Winthrop, Thees had been the head coach at Ole Miss, Memphis, and Georgia College & State. She also served as an assistant at Utah State from 2016-18 and has been the pitching coach for the Great Britain U-22 national team.
