Times have never been better for Duke softball than they are right now.
After two consecutive Super Regional appearances, an ACC tournament championship in 2021, and a regional hosting opportunity in 2022, the Blue Devils have vaulted themselves into position as one of college softball’s elite programs.
Marissa Young has led the Blue Devils since the program’s inception. The Michigan alum and former North Carolina assistant coach is the only leader that Duke softball has known in its 5-season short history.
The 2023 season brings with it its own challenges. A massive senior class – eight in total – departed the program after last season. That group included a pair of veteran pitchers and some major offensive firepower. Young also had to replace a pair of assistant coaches over the summer.
