CORONAVIRUS UPDATE FROM PGF
Premier Girls Fastpitch (PGF) announced on Monday evening that it’s recommending that its tournament directors “exercise an abundance of caution and implement a temporary suspension of all tournament activities until no earlier than Thursday, April 30, 2020.”
That means at least four more events have been postponed and are to be rescheduled:
- 3/27-3/29, Modesto, CA, 12U National Qualifier
- 4/4-4/5, Las Vegas, NV, 12U National Qualifier
- 4/18-4/19, Arizona 12U National Qualifier
- 4/18-4/19, North Texas 12U National Qualifier
The release went on to say: “It would be premature to make any decisions at this time concerning our summer events, including the PGF National Championships. All current information shows that the summer months should be safe, but PGF will monitor the coronavirus climate on a regular basis.”
While the PGF National Board of Directors and staff feel that it is in the best interest of its volunteers and participant families to delay the tournament season until April 30, 2020, some independent tournament directors may still choose to continue running events.
“Premier Girls Fastpitch will not officially sanction any events, either owned or non-owned, during the suspended operations timeline, regarding the COVID-19 quarantine, without the expressed written approval from Dan Hay, President/CEO,” the statement said.
“Should PGF determine that the recommended delay of the season will extend past April 30, 2020, we will provide timely notification and the information regarding the impact of such a delay.”
