Earlier in April, Division II program Southeastern Oklahoma State underwent a coaching change.
Longtime head coach Ron Faubion, who had been at the helm of the program from 1997-2000 and since 2004, was placed on leave by the school in mid-April, according to local media reports at the time. Faubion earned more than 800 wins at the helm of the Savage Storm.
In 2014, SE Oklahoma finished third nationally and finished ranked #4 in the nation, both program bests.
Veteran assistant coach Courtney Rogers was named interim head coach of the program on April 12th, according to a school press release. Rogers’ appointment runs through the remainder of the 2022 season. Rogers spent the last five seasons as an assistant with the program and was elevated from that role to the interim head coaching position in the midst of her sixth year on staff.
With one conference series remaining in the regular season, the Savage Storm currently boast a 29-22 overall record and an 18-12 mark in Great American Conference play. The program currently sits in 5th place in the GAC standings and have clinched a berth in the conference tournament.
