Duke’s Ana Gold, Maryland’s Trinity Schlotterbeck Named Extra Inning Softball Co-National Players of the Week

Duke’s Ana Gold and Maryland’s Trinity Schlotterbeck have been named the Extra Inning Softball Co-National Players of the Week for their efforts during Week 8 of the Division 1 softball season.

Gold drove in nearly half of her team’s 20 runs in an ACC series against Virginia Tech, notching nine RBIs in three games. Boasting a .400 batting average on the week, Gold was 4-10 at the plate with a double and three home runs to her credit.

In the opening game of the series against Virginia Tech, Gold hit a grand slam that helped power the Blue Devils to a 7-1 victory. She also posted a 1.400 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage.

Schlotterbeck collected time in the circle and a .500 batting average at the plate during her own Week 8. During a midweek win over Maryland-Eastern Shore, Schlotterbeck was 3-3 at the plate with two home runs, a double, and six RBIs; she also entered the game in relief in the circle, collecting two strikeouts in an inning of work.

In her lone pitching appearance of the weekend series against Michigan State, Schlotterbeck threw a 2-hit shutout with a strikeout to her credit while batting 3-9 with three RBIs, a triple, and a run scored.
