You can count on two hands the number of 7th graders who have committed to DI softball programs and just over a week ago, pitcher Ashtyn Danley from Tennessee became one of them.
Some pretty big accomplishments have come at a young age for Ashtyn and not just verballing to the Seminoles: she won her first big championship at six-years-old and at 10U won a PGF Nationals championship and a USA Elite Select World Championship.
And she’s already been a 1st Team All-American.

You’ve had a lot of major accomplishments so far in softball and you’re still pretty young! What age did you start playing softball and what’s one of your earliest memories?
I started playing softball when I was four years old. When I was six, I was playing pitcher in a state championship and made three throwing errors and my dad moved me to shortstop and the next ball was hit to me and I made the throw for the final out of the game.
Did you play other sports from a young age and finally settle on softball? Or did you know early on that it was the sport for you?
I played basketball and soccer. I love to compete, but I had to cut one, so I could work on the game I love, softball. Softball has always been my first love.
