In January, Extra Inning Softball announced the restructuring of its rankings platform for players in the seventh and eighth grades.
As Extra Inning Softball embarked on its mission to uphold our new initiative to empower, inspire and support all participants in the game of softball, we began that transition by revealing our enhanced rankings for theClass of 2029.
Our new rankings format features a shift from ranking individual players at a seventh and eighth grade level to ranking their age group by teams, both regionally and nationally.
EIS began the Class of 2029 team rankings with Region One (Northeast) which included teams from 13 states (Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia).
The top-ranked team from Region One was the Jersey Intensity 2011 and head coach Marie Burzo shares what makes the Farmingdale, N.J. based team special.

When did the team/program start and how/why did it come to be?
A core component of the team (seven players) have been playing together for their fourth year and the players we have added over the years fit in seamlessly as if they have been here from the beginning. The girls are from all different towns in New Jersey and we even have a player that travels from out of state. The girls have an amazing bond and we are blessed with a dedicated group of parents. The continuity of the girls and bonds they have formed have made this team successful and able to face adversity and difficult situations in the field. The girls operate as a family dynamic, always picking each other up and conduct themselves without egos.
