College Bound Jocks Athlete of the Month: Alexis DeBoer… 2024 Infielder Moving to Washington As Her Father is New Husky Head Football Coach!

Alexis DeBoer, ranked #22 in the 2024 Extra Elite 100, is a standout infielder who will be changing high schools this Fall after moving to Washington.

Extra Inning Softball has partnered with College Bound Jocks, a “Marketing Company for Athletes” that, for over 15 years, has succeeded in its mission to help those looking to play at the college level how to “understand, plan and succeed in the college recruiting process.”

We are happy to use our editorial platform to promote these talented athletes as part of our CBJ Athlete of the Month program and today we spotlight Alexis DeBoer.

Alexis was ranked #22 in the 2024 Extra Elite 100 released Fall as she is a tall power-hitting infielder whose “ceiling is limitless,” as we wrote in her bio.

This will be an interesting Summer for the standout athlete as she will be moving from Fresno, California to Seattle, Washington as her father, Kalen DeBoer, was hired on Nov. 29, 2021 to be the next head football coach for the Washington Huskies after two years at Fresno State.

Here’s a video look at the current sophomore…

…. And here’s more on our April 2022 CBJ Athlete of the Month!

Your father was named as the Head Football Coach at the Univ. of Washington in November… that must be exciting and a big change at the same time for you, yes?
Yes, It is going to be a big change but I am very excited to see where this adventure takes me and my family. I am very sad to leave the amazing people that I have met in Fresno but I am very excited to get up there!

Have you and your family moved to the Seattle area yet or is that coming up?
No, me and my family are moving up there this summer after school and high school softball ends.

So you still are attending your high school in California and will finish out the year there…
Yes, I still go to Clovis North and I will finish out the year and season here.

Will the move impact you changing travel ball teams? How will that work or is it still a “work in progress?”
The move will not impact my travel ball team, I will continue to play for Sorcerers Gabales/ Rodriguez when I move up there.

When it comes to your softball career, what are the top individual accomplishments you’ve achieved that you’re most proud of?
I would say that I am proud of making first team all TRAC last year as a freshman. I am also very proud of being ranked #22 in the Class of 2024 by Extra Innings Softball!

What would you say are your strengths in softball?
I would say my strengths are to hit for power and average offensively, and my good glove and quick release defensively.

What is your favorite softball memory?
My favorite softball memory is winning the TRAC and Valley Championship my freshman year at Clovis North.

If you could meet anyone in the softball world, who would it be and why?
One person in the softball world that I would want to meet is Jennie Finch. I have always looked up to her because she was an amazing softball player.

What is one thing you have learned from your coaches that will always stay with you?
One thing that I have learned from my coaches that will always stay with me is how to be a good teammate and have good sportsmanship at all times. Every coach that I have played for has really emphasized being a great person along with being a great athlete on the field.

A familiar site at Clovis North games: Alexis circling the bases!

What is something unique about you?
Something unique about me is that I have played on many teams across the United States and I have got to compete against the best teams throughout the country my whole life.

Who is your hero or heroes and why?
My heroes are my parents. They have always been there for me and supported me throughout my softball career. I am so thankful for them and all they do for me.

What other activities/hobbies do you enjoy outside of softball?
Outside of softball I like to play volleyball and basketball, spend time outside, and hang out with my friends and family.

If you could have dinner with anyone (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
If I could have dinner with anyone It would be Morgan Wallen. I love country music and he is one of my favorites.

What is your favorite quote?
My favorite quote is “Success isn’t always about greatness. It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come”.

Final question and just gotta ask this: With your family now the head coach at UW, does this give Heather Tarr and the Husky softball program a big advantage in recruiting you?
Washington has always been one of my dream schools and I have been to a camp even before my dad got hired there. Coach Tarr has built an amazing program there and it is always fun watching them play.
