Miami Ohio is expected to name Courtney Vierstra as the program’s new pitching coach, sources confirmed to Extra Inning Softball on Monday.
Vierstra completed her Redhawk playing career with the 2022 season and will now take over the shepherding of the program’s pitching staff.
After completing her “super senior” season in 2022, the new role is Vierstra’s first coaching position of any kind.
During her five-year career at Miami, Vierstra posted a 2.22 ERA and 84 wins in 779.2 innings of work. Her stats also included a lifetime .209 opponent’s batting average (including a single-season-best .158 mark in 2021) and 1,005 strikeouts.
In the circle for the Redhawks, Vierstra helped guide the program to back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances in 2021 and ’22, leading the staff with a 3.40 ERA and a .211 opponent’s batting average during the 2022 campaign.
