Daniel Nicolaisen, a former college softball coach, was added to the St. Louis Cardinals’ Major League coaching staff on Thursday.

“Daniel Nicolaisen, who served as the team’s minor league assistant hitting coordinator in 2022, will be added to the Major League coaching staff as a third hitting coach,” the Cardinals organization said in a tweet.

Nicolaisen joined the Cardinals organization in the winter of 2019; his initial role included serving in a hybrid role out of the team’s spring training complex in Florida. He worked his way through the organization, including serving as the team’s minor league assistant hitting coordinator last season.

Nicolaisen spent two years on the softball coaching staff at Seton Hall, serving as the volunteer assistant during the 2018 season and as a full-time assistant in 2019. A native of Denmark, he previously worked as an instructor with the Danish Softball Federation and in travel ball in New Jersey.
