North Carolina head coach Donna Papa is retiring as the Tar Heels’ leader.
Papa, the longest-tenured active head coach in college softball, also retires as the second-winningest active head coach. In forty years as a head coach, Papa owns 1,368 career wins.
During her tenure, Papa led the Tar Heels to five ACC regular-season titles and fifteen NCAA tournament appearances. She earned conference Coach of the Year honors five times, most recently in 2012.
In 2012, Papa was inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
