Former College Softball Stars Headline Team USA Slowpitch National Team Roster

A group of former college softball stars were named to the US National Slowpitch team earlier this week.

Former Longwood slugger Megan Baltzell, ex-North Carolina star Amber Parrish, former New Mexico State standout Fiana Finau, and ex-Cleveland State and professional player Dara Toman are among the thirteen players named to the roster on Wednesday.

Both Baltzell and Finau are part of the 50-home run club from their collegiate days, with Baltzell finishing her career with 76 longballs and Finau notching exactly 50 during her own career.

Parrish was an all-ACC catcher at North Carolina who ended her own college career with 41 career bombs. Toman played at Cleveland State, earning both all-conference and all-region honors before embarking on a professional softball career.

All four of the former fastpitch stars are veteran slowpitch players.

The full Women’s Slowpitch National Team roster can be found here. The team will compete in the annual Border Battle against the Canadian national slowpitch team on September 9-11.
