Day 2 Select 30 Training Camp –– USSSA Space Coast Complex

Back at it early this morning. Started the day off with speed and agility combined with chalk talk, a Q&A session with the USSSA coaches and Pride players. The coaches talked about having good character which went along in our session with a recruiting service, NSCA. NSCA gave us good tips on recruiting and how to get on a school’s radar. One of the most interesting tips, you need to be on social media and have a good presence!

Before lunch, we broke off into groups and worked on fielding. I worked mostly on outfield drills where I learned a new drill that I am going to add to my weekly workouts, the Flamingo. It’s a drill to help build your momentum going into your crow hop for a harder throw from the outfield. We also worked on hitting, the coaches gave me some great pointers on keeping my hands inside the ball and driving to the opposite field.

After lunch was when the fun really started… let the games begin! I only had one game today, which we won 4-3, so I had the chance to watch a few games before the Home Run Derby started. I must say I am honored to be a part of the talent that is here this weekend. The Home Run Derby was fun and exciting. They broke it down into the 2027s, 2026s, 2025s and classes 2022-2024 were all together. Each group had three hitters, who had 45 seconds to hit as many as they could. There were several ties and those ladies got five more balls to determine the winner. The winner of each division each faced off against a Pride player. That part was really cool! We got to see one of my favorite players, Jessie Warren, a Pride Pro and an FSU standout, put a few in the parking lot. I was so happy to see a very talented athlete, Asher Thompson, who we compete against on a regular basis, compete and win our division of the Derby. Let me tell you that girl can hit! Congrats, Asher!!

Back at it at 8 a.m. in the morning (on Sunday) and let’s hope the rain stays away!
