Kenny Gajewski Wins #300: Five Fast Facts

Oklahoma State head coach Kenny Gajewski earned his 300th career win in an 11-0 triumph against Incarnate Word on Saturday.

As the Cowgirls’ leader celebrates the milestone victory, here are Five Fast Facts about his career.

1. He is in his eighth season as Cowgirls’ head coach.

Hired as the OSU head coach ahead of the 2016 season, Gajewski has led the program for the better part of a decade. He is the 7th head coach in program history and the 3rd-longest-tenured.

2. He is the second-winningest coach in OSU softball history.

Earlier this season, Gajewski officially took the position as the second-winningest-coach in program history. He reached that mark early in his 8th season as head coach and now trails only Sandy Fischer, who spent 23 years leading the program.

3. He was part of two National Championship teams at Florida.

Prior to his tenure at OSU, Gajewski spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Florida. He was part of the coaching staff that guided the Gators to back-to-back National Championships in 2014 and 2015, the first time such a feat had been accomplished by an SEC team.

4. Under his guidance, OSU has appeared in the postseason every year.

Since Gajewski arrived in Stillwater with the 2016 season, the Cowgirls have played postseason softball every year. The program’s Big 12 tournament title in 2022 was OSU’s first conference championship since 1995, while their consecutive Women’s College World Series appearances from 2019-22 marked the first time that OSU had accomplished three consecutive championship showings in the NCAA era.

5. He won a national championship as a college baseball player.

An alumnus of Oklahoma and the Sooners’ baseball program, Gajewski was part of the 1994 Sooner squad that won the College World Series and national championship.
