Patrick Murphy, Montana Fouts, and Ashley Prange held hands for most of the 20-minute press conference
Murphy referred to both players as some of his best friends for life; both Fouts and Prange shed tears when reflecting on what playing at Alabama and as part of the Crimson Tide team meant to them.
Alabama’s postgame press conference following their elimination from the Women’s College World Series on Friday night included a lot of reflective questions, as both Fouts and Prange had now completed their careers in crimson.
“She’s an icon of the sport,” Murphy said of Fouts at one point.
Asked about the opportunity for a curtain call-exit in the seventh inning, an opportunity that she declined only to give up a home run to the very next batter, Fouts said, “I wouldn’t change a thing.”
