The third season of Athletes Unlimited comes to an end this weekend and as part of the season-ending festivities, the league announced their All-Defensive Team on Saturday.
Stars Amanda Chidester and Danielle O’Toole, both of whom will retire following the AU season, were both among the players named to the 10-member team of defensive standouts.
Voted on by the players in the league, the All-Defensive Team included one pitcher, one catcher, two middle infielders, two corner infielders, three outfielders, and one utility player.
O’Toole earned the nod in the circle, while Taylor Edwards earned the proverbial gold glove for her work behind the plate. Former Utah Utes Hannah Flippen and Anissa Urtez received the mentions up the middle, while Chidester and breakout defensive star Lilli Piper were selected from the corner infield positions.
Human highlight reels Haylie McCleney, Bubba Nickles, and Aliyah Andrews were selected from the outfield, while former Wisconsin & Team Canada standout Kelsey Harshman got the nod in the Utility position.
The league’s Defensive Player of the Year award will be presented as part of the closing ceremonies on Sunday and will be awarded to one of the ten players on the all-defensive roster.
