Former Texas pitcher Shealyn O’Leary is transferring to UT-Tyler, she announced on Sunday.
“After a lot of prayer and consideration, I am excited to announce that I have committed to play softball at UT Tyler and to continue my pursuit of becoming a nurse! This was the perfect fit for both!!!!!” O’Leary wrote on Twitter.
O’Leary, a graduate transfer, has a single year of eligibility remaining.
As a freshman in 2019, O’Leary was an All-Big 12 selection and posted 14 wins with a 0.65 ERA. She earned all-conference and all-region honors in 2021.
During the 2022 season, O’Leary posted a 6.04 ERA, a 1-4 record, and 27 strikeouts in limited work. She reportedly dealt with a lingering injury throughout the season.
UT-Tyler finished #3 in the Division 2 NFCA Coaches Poll following the 2022 season; the Patriots compiled an overall record of 49-9 with a 26-4 showing in Lone Star Conference play.
