Mississippi State is hiring Taryne Mowatt-McKinney as the program’s new pitching coach, sources confirmed to Extra Inning Softball.
Mowatt-McKinney spent six seasons as the pitching coach at Arizona, her alma mater. During her tenure on staff in Tucson, Mowatt-McKinney was part of the staff that guided the Wildcats to three consecutive Women’s College World Series appearances from 2019-22.
In her first three seasons back with the Wildcats, Mowatt-McKinney led the Wildcat bullpen to a sub-2.00 ERA in each year, the first time the feat had been accomplished in three consecutive seasons since Mowatt-McKinney herself was in the circle from 2006-08.
Prior to her tenure on staff at Arizona, Mowatt-McKinney spent tenures on staff at Cal Baptist and Ole Miss, where she was part of the Rebels’ 2017 SEC tournament championship run.
