Team USA announced on Thursday the 16-member roster that will don the red, white, and blue at the Japan All-Star Series in August.
The entire roster is made up active collegiate players, including several players who have not played for Team USA previously.
Clemson head coach John Rittman will helm the squad, his first time leading a Team USA roster after previously serving as an assistant coach. Pacific head coach Brian Kolze, Virginia assistant coach Mike Roberts, and Tennessee assistant coach Chris Malveaux round out Rittman’s staff for the series.
A quartet of players on the roster are former member of the Junior Women’s National Team; Clemson pitcher Valerie Cagle, Kentucky shortstop Erin Coffel, UCLA infielder Megan Grant, and Oklahoma utility player Avery Hodge are in that group that will suit up for Team USA once again.
Stanford pitcher and breakout star NiJaree Canady is on the roster, as are Georgia slugger Jayda Kearney and LSU shortstop Taylor Pleasants. Former Stanford pitcher Alana Vawter, now in the transfer portal, is also part of the team’s pitching staff.
