How did you get involved in softball and what made you choose your position/s?
I got involved with softball with when my dad bought me a foam pink softball bat for Christmas when I was 2 years old.

I originally played second base in the beginning of my softball career. When I moved to 10U travel ball at 8 years old, my coach said that it would be good for me to try CF because I was fast and I could catch. That’s when I fell in love with the outfield.

Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them?
I first began major travel ball with Universal Fastpitch-Mercado in the Bay Area. I learned a lot from my coaches Dan Mercado, Mike Ruiz, James Horton, as well as my dad Demetrius Crawford on being a team player and a leader as well as becoming an all-around player. I spent two years there before moving to Las Vegas and traveling to So Cal to play for one of the top organizations in the country, the Corona Angels. I just began playing there the last three weeks of fall.

What is your training routine for softball?
My training routine is different from any other softball girl my age. I do a lot of speed training, strength training and explosive movements. I do a lot of football specific ladder and cone drills that help me in the outfield with my dad. I run hills, I train in the sand and also do my normal 3/4 day a week hitting drills where I have to hit 100 balls, but it doesn’t count if it’s a grounder or pop up.

What are some of your goals in softball?
I want to play varsity softball as a freshman in high school. I want to go to college and play for a major D1 softball program. UCLA, University of Washington, Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma and I want to play in the Olympics.

What should we expect from your club team this summer?
We plan on competing and working hard to be in the PGF and Alliance championships this year. We have a real good team.

Do you have a secret talent/skill?
I love boxing! That’s my second favorite sport. I can bake. I can drive golf carts, so I think I can drive cars too.

What’s your most memorable softball story?
My most memorable moment was probably traveling on the plane to Tennessee with my whole team, playing in a PGF tournament visiting Nashville! As well as being recognized by Ken Griffey Jr.
