Texas A&M head coach Trisha Ford recorded her 400th career win in a 10-0 triumph over the Tarleton Texans on Friday.

As the Aggies’ leader celebrates the milestone victory, here are Five Fast Facts about her career.

1. Her college jersey number is retired.

Ford’s #9, which she wore during her playing career that ended in 1999, is the only jersey worn by a female athlete in any sport at Saint Mary’s to be retired by the school.

2. She was inducted into the Saint Mary’s Hall of Fame in 2007.

Only the second softball player inducted into the Hall of Fame, Ford’s playing career included school records for batting average, hits, doubles, and at-bats. She set the program single-season record with a .435 average in 1998.

3. Texas A&M is the fourth school she has led as head coach.

Ford’s first collegiate coaching job and her first head coaching job were the same role. She helmed her alma mater for two years in 2002 and ’03. She went on to spend four years as head coach at Fresno State and six seasons at Arizona State. She took over at Texas A&M last summer.

4. She is a four-time conference Coach of the Year.

While at Fresno State, Ford earned the Mountain West Coach of the Year award in 2015 and ’16 after leading the Bulldogs to back-to-back conference titles in those same years. She was named the PAC-12 Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2022, leading the Sun Devils to a Women’s College World Series berth and a conference title in those years, respectively.

5. Including co-head coaches, she is the 10th person to hold the title of Aggie Softball head coach.

The Aggie program began in 1972 and went through seven coaching changes through its first decade of existence. Since 1981, only three coaches have led the Aggies on the softball diamond: Bob Brock from 1981-96, Jo Evans from 1997-2022, and now Ford.
