TV Numbers: Baton Rouge Regional Championship Sets New Viewership Mark

The final game of the Baton Rouge Regional this weekend, a winner-take-all face-off between LSU and Louisiana, set a new season-high with 557,000 viewers on ESPN2 according to ShowBuzzDaily.com.

In addition to setting a new mark for the 2023 softball season on television, the viewership number also makes the game the most-watched Regional telecast since 2019.

The dramatic game, which ended in a 9-8 victory for the Ragin Cajuns, easily topped a WNBA game between Chicago and Phoenix that aired on ESPN and was watched by 439,000 viewers in direct competition with the Baton Rouge Regional.

Other notables from the Regionals on television included the winner’s bracket game between Auburn and Clemson on Saturday, which drew 498,000 viewers. Texas A&M/Texas (492,000) and Florida/Stanford (429,000), both also winner’s bracket matchups, also drew large audiences on Saturday.

Liberty’s 2-1 upset win over UCLA drew 401,000 viewers on ESPN2, the most-watched game on that channel on Saturday.
