Amazing Video Play! Brady Holbrook, Son of Atlanta Vipers Coach Jason Holbrook, Makes Shot of a Lifetime…. & SportsCenter Top 10 Plays!

You can’t do much in .7 seconds… or can you? Brady Holbrook, an 8th grader from Georgia, showed in a rivalry basketball game Thursday night that was plenty of time to make the shot of a lifetime!

Talk about a Christmas miracle!

Thursday night (Dec. 3, 2020), Brady Holbrook’s North Forsyth (Georgia) Middle School was playing a big rivalry game against rival South Forsyth Middle School.

We’ll let the young athlete’s father, Jason Holbrook, who we know from our softball world as the outstanding coach for the Atlanta Vipers travel ball team, set up the dramatic finish:

“Huge rival middle school basketball game. We have led almost the entire game. They close to within one point with 5 seconds left. They run an inbound play and throw it down the court and make the shot so they go up by 1 point. We have .7 seconds left. A couple of their parents have packed up and are walking down the stands to go out and then this happens…”

Here is the original, unedited video shot by Diane Kulvaris, the mother of one of Brady’s buddies.

Coach Holbrook added:

“He (Brady) said that he only had .7 seconds so he saw the goal out of the corner of his eye and let it go. He is left-handed so that worked out awesome. They are a huge rival and had rushed court on the last second shot they made to go ahead and thought the game was over. BUT IT WASNT!!!!!! Made the most of that .7 seconds!!!!”

Within 48 hours the incredible shot goes viral… like VERY viral: it’s featured on the local Fox affiliate—Fox5 Atlanta—and even makes ESPN’s SportsCenter!

We won’t tell you what number it made… you’ll have to watch the Facebook post of Brady’s proud dad to find out where it ranked!

And with an amazing shot comes amazing responses; Brady’s dad revealed:

“He had a few NBA players message him! He even got their PlayStation names and they are playing this morning (Saturday, Dec. 5)!”

And kudos to Coach Holbrook’s Vipers softball program, which has produced dozens if not hundreds of collegiate-bound players such as 2021 grads Logan Champion (Samford), Jordyn Partain (Florida International), Makenna Segal (Ole Miss), Alaina Smith (North Carolina State) and Sydney Stewart (Georgia Southern).

He’s as proud of his teen fastpitch players as he is for his son and his miraculous basketball shot this week.

“I think my proudest moments are seeing the players achieve success,” Holbrook told Extra Inning Softball on Friday. “They sacrifice and work so hard, I truly get my happiness from their success. All of my players and families have been so supportive through the years it has been an honor to get to be a small part of their journey and story.”

“We graduated 10 last year and have 18 this year. They are all going to D1 programs with great scholarships and will get an awesome education. I hear from all them all the time even now with updates and things going on in their lives. It is one big family and always has been.”
