12 Questions with Florida State Commit Macy Ratliff

Macy is not only a standout in softball, she’s also a top point guard in basketball and excels in track.

Over the next three weeks we’ll unveil our lists of top players in the senior class and profile several of them; one of the best all-around athletes in the 2019 class is Macy Ratliff from Rison, Arkansas.

Macy has won a PGF Nationals title and also earned Extra Inning Softball All-American honors.

An outfielder/utility player who has played for the Texas Glory Adkins-Ratliff team coached by her father Mark, Macy has also played with the Beverly Bandits-Ketelhut 16U team in 2017 in which she won a PGF National Championship going 3-for-4 in the title game and this past summer with several Bandits teammates on the Louisville Lady Sluggers coached by Jim Huecker.

As a junior, Macy batted .632 to earn Extra Inning Softball All-American honors and in her career has had 78 steals in 79 attempts. She also excels in basketball as the starting point guard for her varsity team and is averaging 15 points per game this year and has multiple top 3 finishes in track in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 4 x 100, triple jump and long jump.

And if that isn’t impressive enough, she’s No. 1 academically in her class with a 4.00-plus GPA.

In August of 2017 she committed to Florida State and is scheduled to take her official visit to FSU the weekend of October 26-28.

Here’s a closer look with the soon-to-be Seminole signee…

You’re a Florida State commit… what was it like seeing them advance this year through the WCWS and then win it all? Where were you for the Finals and what was the feeling when the last out was recording and your future team was national champs?
It was very exciting!  My mom and I were able to travel to Tallahassee to watch the Super Regionals.  During the World Series, I was playing in a tournament in Alabama.  We watched the FSU/UCLA games on the iPad in the car on the way home from the tournament.  We were all cheering in the car!  As soon as we got home, we bought tickets and started packing for Oklahoma City (site of the World Series).  We couldn’t make the first game, but I was there with my dad and sister for the final game.  It was exciting to watch the ‘Noles make history.  Watching it, I felt lucky to know that I have the opportunity to play for those coaches.
