IMPROVEMENTS TO EXTRA INNING SOFTBALL RANKINGS
In the past, the rankings process was primarily overseen by a single individual, leading to potential concerns about bias or undue influence. We firmly believe that this approach is not conducive to providing an objective and comprehensive assessment of the Fastpitch softball landscape. Additionally, rankings were determined over the course of one week but no more!
Extra Inning Softball player and team rankings are now overseen by a rankings committee, whose members remain confidential in order to protect the integrity of the process. Our team of experts works diligently for over a three week period to carefully evaluate and consider each player. At times, our EIS rankings committee may follow up to gather additional information as requested by the committee.
Our rankings committee is composed of individuals with a deep understanding of the sport. Each member brings a unique perspective and expertise to the table, ensuring that our rankings are the result of a thorough and balanced evaluation.
The decision to keep the identities of our rankings committee members confidential serves to eliminate any potential external pressures or conflicts of interest, allowing the committee to focus solely on the merits of each player and team’s performance. By maintaining the confidentiality of our rankings committee, we aim to upload the highest standards of fairness and objectivity in our rankings process.
Further, our rankings committee operates on a unanimous basis, meaning that all members must reach a consensus on the rankings for each player and team, both regionally and nationally. This approach ensures that the rankings are the result of thoughtful deliberation, data analysis, and collective expertise.
We are confident that this approach will bolster the credibility and reliability of our rankings, providing the Fastpitch softball community with a trustworthy and comprehensive assessment of both player and team performance.
Revamped Rankings Process
Moving forward, the new approach will feature the top Extra Elite 100 players in each specific position: 1) pitchers, 2) catchers, 3) infielders, and 4) outfielders. By focusing on individual positions, we aim to highlight more players within each position.
In addition to the comprehensive changes to our ranking process, we want to clarify how we will be presenting our rankings moving forward. We understand the importance of recognizing talent at both regional and national levels, and we are committed to providing a platform that highlights the best players in each category.
Regional Rankings First, then the Extra Elite 100!
Our approach involves first announcing the rankings for top players in each region, showcasing standout performers in local communities. This regional focus will continue to play a crucial role in our rankings, as we believe in the significance of honoring talent at all levels of the game.
