On the softball field the last two years, a lot has gone right for the Delaware Blue Hens. The program finished the 2020 season 19-4 and were 25-9 in 2021. The talent level in Newark has been a high one during the same span, including six all-conference honorees a season ago.
In the final RPI of 2021, the Blue Hens were the top-rated team that wasn’t selected for the NCAA tournament – they finished 27th in the RPI rankings, ahead of teams like Mississippi State, Michigan, and Stanford. After their emergence into full-on contending team status the last two years, the Blue Hens return the lion’s share of their lineup in 2022.
